Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AeyeScope browser extension and related services (the "Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What AeyeScope is

AeyeScope is a tool that estimates whether images you view in your browser are AI-generated, and displays that estimate as a labeled verdict. It is provided to assist your own judgment. AeyeScope is distributed through browser extension stores (such as the Chrome Web Store); those platforms' own terms also apply to your installation and use.

Important - it is an aid, not a verdict. AI image detection is statistical, not certain. AeyeScope can be wrong: it may flag a real photo as AI, or miss an AI-generated image, especially as new generators appear. You must not rely on AeyeScope alone for any decision that has legal, financial, journalistic, safety, or reputational consequences. Always verify important content through independent means. The final judgment is yours.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your country, and at least the minimum age required for digital services where you live (for example, 16 in many EU countries, or younger only with verifiable consent from a parent or guardian). By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Beta status

The Service is currently offered as a beta. It may contain bugs, change without notice, or be temporarily or permanently unavailable. Features, accuracy, and availability are not guaranteed during the beta period.

4. Pricing and billing

During the beta, the Service is free. After public launch, some features may require a paid subscription. You will never be charged automatically or by surprise: any paid plan will be entirely optional and will require your explicit, active consent before any payment is taken. If and when paid plans are introduced, clear pre-contract information and any applicable consumer rights (including, where they apply, a right of withdrawal or cancellation) will be provided in line with EU and Slovenian consumer law.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use them to operate and improve the Service, with no obligation to you. You are not required to provide feedback, and you should not include confidential information that you do not wish us to use. See our Privacy Policy for how feedback is stored.

7. Intellectual property

The AeyeScope name, logo, website, extension software, and the trained detection model we deploy are owned by Matej Gams or used under licence (the underlying model architecture and certain components are open-source or third-party licensed). These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the extension for personal or internal business use. They do not transfer any ownership.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that detection results are correct, complete, or reliable. Some jurisdictions, including under EU consumer law, do not allow certain warranty exclusions; in that case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected (see Section 10).

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AeyeScope and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a decision you make based on the Service's output. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited - for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any mandatory liability under applicable consumer law.

10. Your statutory consumer rights

If you use the Service as a consumer, you benefit from mandatory protections under the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects those statutory rights, and where any term conflicts with them, your statutory rights prevail.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend, limit, or discontinue access (in whole or in part) if you breach these Terms, or where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, its users, or our providers.

12. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service, and update these Terms, at any time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Slovenia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law allows. Otherwise, disputes are subject to the competent courts of Slovenia.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. The invalid provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted, or replaced by a valid provision that best reflects its original intent.
